I've been conflicted for quite a while about what to do with this blog, Low on Hit Points. If you asked me what I really wanted for the site, it would be to take things in a completely new direction. But the main issue is that my time and effort is best served elsewhere for the time being. So I've decided to give this 'hiatus' thing a try.
I'm not sure about how long this break will last. That depends largely on how the other ventures I want to undertake pan out. What I want to do -- at least for a while -- is to give these things my full attention... let's just say anywhere from a few months to a year plus. It's all up in the air. It's simply something I need to try out. I'll see how things go as they go.
What that means for this space boils down to a few things. One is that I'm done posting here for now. There won't even be random monthly posting. I'm quitting (temporarily) "cold turkey" to focus in on other things. And what I really don't want -- or need -- is this blog to serve as an excuse not to work on those other projects.
This also means that I'll be closing all commenting functionality here, effective immediately. My apologies to those who didn't get to comment on something they wanted to in the past. Truth is if I didn't do this, I'd be compelled to check the site obsessively as I do now to see if there are any new comments. Thus I'd still have something pulling me back.
Eventually, I'll start again here. I now know what I really want to do here. And I also now know that it will take considerable time and effort. I certainly don't wish to half-ass things anymore, like I have (to some degree) in the past. So when the time is right, I shall return. That sounds way too melodramatic...
One important note: The current content here isn't going anywhere while I'm gone. Even when I start over, any links to any posts here will still work. This old content won't disappear, and I'll give this stuff its own little archive on the new site, when (and if) that new site ever happens. Again, the links won't break and the posts and comments won't disappear, I promise.
Finally, thanks to the readers and commenters and other bloggers in the 'sphere for making this blog fun to have! I don't exactly have anything more 'profound' to say on exit, so peace out!
