What can I say? I'm a huge fan. Chances have it, you are too. The long awaited time has arrived... sort of. It's likely we won't be seeing another new episode for at least three weeks. Heck, this might even be just an appetizer until season 1 finishes its rebroadcast. Nevertheless, I just can't explain how excited I am at this very moment.
First off, Mazui is for reals. Secondly, after I compose myself, I'll write a better thought out post later. Right now, I just have a burning desire to scream to the heavens "fuck yeah!!!" And like hell I'm the only one this excited right now. So if you haven't seen it yet, go get it ASAP and feel free to let me know just how pumped you are too.
Calming down, update #1: What a great episode it was, too. We've had our fill of comedic side stories thanks to Haruhi-chan. This episode had real meat to it. It's been so long since I've witnessed new plot material. And yeah, that means I'm staying high and clear of the novels, even if I have stumbled onto a few spoilers by accident.
Quick link, update #2: Here's the series timeline, courtesty Baka-Tsuki. The link just contains book / arc titles. Three are listed between the episodes of season 1. Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody was taken care of with this latest episode. That leaves two more story arc possibilities, unless KyoAni forgoes them for now. However that would mean we would be waiting until after season 1 finishes its rebroadcast for more new episodes...
Retort, update #3: As I've been commenting elsewhere, I have to praise Kadokawa for this one. They managed to come up with an inventive new airing gimmick for season 2: interweaving the episodes with season 1.
As for their "trolling" (God I hate that word already), it's called marketing. And with all the buzz around season 2, I'd say they did their job quite well. Plus, they did keep to their word about Haruhi returning for Spring '09. They just managed to pull it off in a way that was a HUGE surprise. I give them all the credit in the world for pulling that off (minus the leak, but such is the way of the internet).
Finally, how the hell does overreacting to every news piece thinking it meant season 2 affect your view of the actual content of season 2. What happens in the outside world shouldn't affect how you view the actual anime, because once this all comes to pass, none of it will actually matter! Silliness, pure and simple.
Oh well, that stuff doesn't hinder my enjoyment in the slightest way. God I love this franchise!
Pondering, update #4: This schedule most likely isn't the actual one, but it gives us an idea of what an interweaved season 1 and 2 could look like. I like it.
Moe, update #5: I've seen some complaints about Mikuru being too moe. Weird. Mikuru was always hyper moe. I mean, that's why Haruhi brought her into the club in the first place. Mikuru satisfied the need for that moe role in Haruhi's warped little mind. If Mikuru seems more moe than before, that's only because KyoAni got better at animating it. She was always supposed to be like this.

I didn't read I thing you wrote. The angels singing Ode to Joy in my ears are too loud.

Stole my thoughts man, lol. I'm too buzzed about it to write anything coherent. Plus, I'd like to watch it again with a better quality rip. But man, once I heard the news, I had a goofy grin on my face that would not go away. =D

I'm still buzzing after watching it. As far as the news, I had for some reason thought that the Haruhi rebroadcasts were on Sunday. So this was a very very very pleasant surprise to me as I was getting off work. And for the first sub to be available almost immediately after I got home... awesome. Thank you for that, Haruhi!

I think I already forgot the past episodes. So the timeline is no use for me. Why the fuck didnt they even arranged the episodes according to its original arrangement!? Ugh.

"Mikuru was always hyper moe..."
I laughed every time Kyon said "Kawaii" for Mikuru...comedy at its best.

I would imagine that KyoAni ordering it up chronologically should help in comprehension, not hurt it.
@ Toonleap
Gotta love how Kyon is so into her. It makes him come across more like an honest human being, versus your typical anime harem lead.

I am on cloud nice right now. Who knew that after a crappy day at work I would come home to find a blogger has reviewed a new Haruhi episode. I nearly lost it! Words could not express now happy and blown away I was by this.
I can't even think straight right now. I think we all just need to compose ourselves. lol I'll have to wait before I write anything else.

I know, I know. I was killing time before leaving work when I saw a blog post about new Haruhi. I'm thinking to myself, "He's speculating on whether a new episode is really coming up or not." Then I click on the link and see a brand new screencap -- evidence of an actual new episode.
I couldn't stop bouncing with excitement on my drive home! I had to calm myself down so that I didn't do something foolish like watch a raw I wouldn't understand. Thankfully, the first fansub hit really quick. I wasn't entirely trusting of it, but I downloaded it anyways. Couldn't hurt to try.
The whole time watching it felt surreal. Afterwards, I couldn't shut up about it. I just had to talk about it, so I posted without any sort of gameplan. This was very much a post in progress that got updated whenever I felt like blurting something out. It was actually a ton of fun. Then I went around and commented on a crap load of other Haruhi posts.
Overall, that was a great night. It's rare nowadays that something so awesome can just creep up on you like that. Too cool.

I know what you mean. And god bless the internet for letting me find people who feel the exact way about a show the way I do.
It honestly felt like no time had gone by in between episodes. I would have never thought it's been several years since I last saw a new episode. The animation was gorgeous, Haruhi was her energetic and adorable self (especially young Haruhi), and the always cynical Kyon was SPOT on.
Glad to have the bang back...

Most people I know don't watch that much anime, or any at all. My roommate watches Eden with me and has seen Haruhi 1. But he wasn't available to watch Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody. Thankfully, the internet exists and I can take my fanboyism online and strike up conversations with people enjoying the same thing I am.
Haruhi is one of my all-time favorite characters. I just love her energy. And Kyon has to provide the best narration in not just any anime, but any show or movie or anything I've ever seen. It'd be pretty cool to have Kyon narrating my life, now that I think about it. Oh, the lulz potential.

lol, nice. Yeah I agree. Haruhi is probably my favorite character ever. There is just something about her that I downright love!
Lucky for me I don't need Kyon to narrate my life. I AM Kyon. Probably another reason the show appeals to me so much. My ex-girlfriend said that I not only remind her of Kyon in looks, but the personality is almost dead on. lol
I take that as a compliment...

I am hysterical and incredibly amped. Awesome super sick sweet nice fine good dandy splendid insane yahoo.
I love how Haruhi always manages to do something new with their broadcasting methods. This new episode was a huge surprise, considering that everyone was clamoring for it, and somewhat left in the dark until days before the episode aired.
I'm excited, and btw, this episode was phenomenal.

I can be a lazy ass bum sometimes. Having a cute, spunky girl like Haruhi to drag me around to all sorts of fun adventure would be what I want. One of her main draws is that she would always keep you on your toes.
I think a lot of people grow to be a bit cynical like Kyon, so we can identify with him in some way. He's also the antithesis of your normal anime hero, who quickly accepts the ridiculous events around him. Kyon will always point out the inanity of it all.
@ Glo the Legend
I love Kadokawa's creativity with broadcasting too. They keep it fresh and keep you on your toes, much like Haruhi herself. Plus, it's just nice to see something unique being done with the normal format. They've always got something up their sleeves, and that's flat out interesting to me.
