Endless Eight aired yesterday, and my level of excitement hasn't really dropped at all! There's still the drive back from work where I'm bouncing up and down trying to contain myself. There's still the naughty little voice in the back of my head tempting me to download the raw. Why is the drive home so long? Why is Japanese so freaking hard? Haruhi is waiting for me dammit!
In the end, Mazui came through again. Sure, a.f.k. are probably still the best, but I need my Haruhi ASAP. I'll most likely pick up their versions of each episode later on. For now, I need my fix and no rational reasoning can hold me back. Poor raw visual quality? Who cares! Haruhi doesn't need to look good. The show is fantastic regardless.
It's kind of difficult to comment on this episode, as more is to come. However, the setup was quite fun. Kyon can chill and enjoy a somewhat normal life... for now, at least. You see, I just think it would be a blast to hang out with Haruhi herself. Constantly keeping you on your toes, even the most mundane of situations would have an added edge to them. She also attracts quite the crowd.
I never commented on the ED last time, but I like it. Great visuals. Solid, somewhat catchy song. Epileptics beware.
The new comic-esque OP hasn't won me over as easily, but Bouken Desho Desho was probably too high a wall for it to climb. When they throw up their hands in confusion, I'm like "I don't know what you're doing either." The spokesmodel for facepalm delivers his silent review at the end. I'll grow into it, I'm sure.
The best thing is that there's more Haruhi to come. We are probably looking at four more episodes before the broadcasting returns to season 1 material. The interrupted schedule seems to have me hooked even more. Dangling out new material and having me wait on bated breath amps up the anticipation. Hell, I'm just glad they finally got around to season 2!
One final observation: the current tally for KyoAni swimsuit episodes this season is now at 3! Stellar. Who am I kidding if I say otherwise?

Yeah, I get Mazui for the quick and dirty, but a.f.k. is the one "for keeps".
I think
Hare Hare Yukai > Bouken Desho Desho > Tomare! > Super Driver
But Tomare! might move up the more I listen to it.

For me, I think it's the following:
Bouken Desho Desho > Hare Hare Yukai > Tomare! > Super Driver
But of course, that could be a bit of season 1 familiarity bias.

Is it just me or I just need 1-2 swimsuit episode on Haruhi? Burn me now. But I find it uninteresting. 1-2 swimsuit ep is enough for me..

I loved this episode! While the last new episode was great, it was very story driven. This was a nice relaxed fun episode.
I know what you mean about wanting to spend a day with Haruhi. I don't know if I'd be able to keep up with her but I know I would love every minute of it.
So far I enjoy both the new songs. It's kinda hard to compete with the previous songs, especially Hare Hare Yukai since that song alone had a huge influence on the shows popularity due to it's dance number.

@ Kairu
The slower episodes are a nice change of pace between plot ones. However, since it's actually been 4 weeks since the last (new) plot episode, I can see why some people may have wanted a bit more. But I'm sure that's coming soon enough.
@ Seantaku
I don't think it matters whether or not you can keep up with her. She's dragging you along at full speed ahead, so you're 'keeping up with her' one way or another! And that's one of the things I find most compelling about her.
The dance number certainly influences my opinion on Hare Hare Yukai. I can't deny that.

Something about the new OP is off for me, but it really doesn't matter, because Haruhi is awesome.
I don't see why Kyon always looks so peeved when he hangs out with Haruhi. I mean, she's awesome.
BOO-YAH!

Kyon is such a tsundere. His 'peeved' tsun tsun is merely a facade to hide his dere dere love for Haruhi. He doesn't put up much of a fight, now does he?
