Clannad ~After Story has finally begun, three weeks late for HD whores

I love my Key-derived anime by Kyoto Animation as much as any other fervent fanboy of the two. Therefore, I can't bear to watch their latest collaboration cut down to pan-and-scan 4:3 standard definition. Once again, Clannad fans need wait three weeks for the proper 16:9 high definition airing. Why?

After scouring the internet, I'm having issue finding the real reason behind this situation. Is there some kind of deal where the HD capable station BS-i isn't allowed to air their version right away? Or is this the station's own scheduling decision? Either way, it's freaking lame.

Four episodes in, I can only give my impressions for one episode. How was it? Great; it's freaking Clannad. Episode one is a filler episode, comical in nature, obviously being used to re-familiarize viewers with the cast. Even still, it's plenty of fun and works better than it should. Such is the frequently lauded quality of KyoAni.

Is being weeks behind other viewers worth the extra screen real-estate? Yes, but I'm a purist son-of-a-bitch. Come the end of the season that dedication will be painfully hard to keep. When it all comes down to three more episodes -- with all of them already out there, ready to be watched -- I'll be more angry than anything else. But I'll wait, nevertheless.

I have to say, if they try to pull this crap with Haruhi 2, I'll be flying over to Japan to kick some ass. Seriously.
